A sand storm has blown away all the disturbing traces, leaving behind a photographer´s paradise.<br><br>S-curved lines usually work in compositions and I cannot resist tryin Dünen #5: Taken at the Eureka Dunes - Death Valley NP, end of November, early in the morning before the sunlight hits the dunes. Without contrasting shadows the scene is dominated by arcs and lines.<br><br>I am fascinated how they harmonize, showing Dünen #4: Harsh light effects sharp lines and arcs, while the gradient of the dunes determines the depth of the shadow.<br><br>The view camera lets me follow the line with the focus emphasizing the idea. The darker upper left corner is due to dark s Dünen #6: To achieve the illusion of three-dimensionality on two-dimensional paper is one of my goals in photography. The soft transition from light to shadow makes this illusion real and the diagonal arrangement of the shapes supports it. Dünen #3: A fascinating curved line abstracts light and shadow from the landscape, sand ripples and traces of animals being the only memento of the real world. Dünen #7: Harsh light reduces the landscape to areas of light and shadow which have to be balanced. The landscape is abstracted and the ripples of the sand are the only connection to the real world. I was attracted by the dark shadow echoing the shape of the dune.<br><br>By tilting the lens of my view camera, I moved the plane of focus onto the surface of the sand in fro Dünen #8: Taken at the Eureka Dunes - Death Valley NP, end of November, late afternoon; thin and light clouds shade the sun just a little bit to soften the shadows.<br><br>A pano of two images was necessary to frame the zigzag line.<br><br><br><br><
